In answer to the comment to my previous blog about Eagles wings – here is the source of the words.
in 1979 the “Bible Society” or “British and Foreign Bible Society” as it used to be known decided to run a competition to set words from the Bible to music. The response was so great that over 1,300 entries were received. A selection of the best of the entries was published in a book called “Sing Good News Song Book”. Following this a musical was put together called “Sing God News The Musical”. In the North West of England a choir was formed called “The Good News Choir” and performed the musical all over the area over a period of several years. It was so uplifting and joyous that I travelled to as many performances as I could get to. When the choir was eventually wound up the music fell out of use and sadly is not sung these days. It is the ambition of some from our church to perform the musical at some time in the future.
